Tour description

Costanera Sur is probably the best area for birding in Buenos Aires, one of the birdiest cities in the Western Hemisphere. Its almost 350 hectares protects varied habitats such as wetlands, Pampa’s grasslands, scrublands and native forests. More than 220 bird species have been recorded in the area, and in a visit of few hours you can observe more than 60 species, such as black-necked swans, guira cuckoos, gray-necked and giant wood-rails, yellow billed cardinals, long-winged harriers, spectacled tyrants, southern crested caracaras, great Pampa finches, masked gnatcatchers, ultramarine grossbeaks, many-colored rush-tyrants and freckle-breasted thornbirds, among many othwer species.

A good system of trails, roads and lookouts allow good chances to explore the area with enough comfort all year round.

Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve is located at less than l0 minute drive from any centric hotel and it is a must for birders and naturalists, as well as the best introduction to Argentina’s birdlife.
