Patagonian Steppes
This is a vast grassy and shrubby steppe that covers most of Patagonia, from the south of Mendoza up to Tierra del Fuego. The climate is cold and dry, very windy and with scanty rain or snow. Although birds are easy to observe, the number of species and abundance is lower than in other regions due to the scarcity of resources, except for wetlands and transitional areas. Bosques Petrificados National Monument, La Payunia and Llancanelo Provincial Parks (Mendoza), Monte León N.P. and the Eastern portions of most Patagonian national parks are representatives of this ecoregion.
